FAGNA® Academic Allies

Apply as a FAGNA® Academic Ally

The official designation is FAGNA® Academic Ally. Interested men can participate in and support the mission of advancing women in academia without becoming members of an association whose core membership is women academics. Complete the form below and the FAGNA® Membership Committee will review your application.

What Academic Allies receive

FAGNA® Academic Allies could:

  • Participate in FAGNA® webinars, conferences and public programmes
  • Receive FAGNA® publications, including INSIGHT
  • Access selected professional-development activities
  • Receive FAGNA® news and opportunities
  • Network with FAGNA®'s international academic community
  • Support and participate in initiatives promoting gender equity in academia
  • Contribute expertise to selected FAGNA® programmes
  • Serve as speakers, facilitators, panellists or resource persons where appropriate
  • Collaborate on research, policy and academic initiatives
  • Sponsor or support FAGNA® programmes where appropriate
  • Be recognised publicly as FAGNA® Academic Allies
  • Participate in campaigns and initiatives supporting women's advancement in academia

Boundaries — what Academic Allies are not eligible to

Academic Allies are not eligible to:

  • Vote in FAGNA® elections
  • Stand for election to positions reserved for full members
  • Determine FAGNA®'s strategic direction through voting rights
  • Represent themselves as full FAGNA® members
  • Use FAGNA® affiliation to imply that they are part of the Association's core membership constituency

Qualifications for becoming an Academic Ally

An applicant should:

  • 1Be a male academic, researcher, academic leader, professional working in higher education, or another appropriately qualified academic/professional
  • 2Demonstrate genuine support for FAGNA®'s mission and objectives
  • 3Agree to support the advancement, development and equitable participation of women in academia
  • 4Agree to FAGNA®'s code of conduct and principles of respect, inclusion and professional integrity
  • 5Have an identifiable academic/professional affiliation or demonstrated involvement in higher education, research or related fields
  • 6Complete the Academic Ally application
  • 7Be approved according to FAGNA®'s admission procedure

Note: Admission as an Academic Ally is at the discretion of FAGNA® and does not confer full membership status.
